LETTER FROM: Richard H. Davis

Announcing a run for the United States Congress as a Congressional Candidate for California's 53rd District

Dear [Constituent],

I am excited and proud to throw my hat in the ring and officially announce my candidacy for United States Congress. I look forward to representing everyone in California's 53rd District fairly. I will run a positive campaign, one in which I will display integrity and honesty in all my interactions and treat all that I encounter with the utmost respect. I'm not a Member of Congress but a candidate and a student at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California, my mission is to teach other people to be law-abiding

I don't expect to have much of a chance at winning the 2016 race for Congress. Running as Republican I have challenged the very popular incumbent, Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.), she was first elected to the U.S. House in 2000, defeating Republican incumbent Brian Bilbray to represent California's 49th Congressional District. She won re-election in 2002 in the newly redistricted District 53. Davis won re-election in District 53 in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014. The odds of  me winning Zero! However, California uses a top-two primary system, in which all candidates appear on the same ballot. The top two vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, move on to the general election. In states that do not use a top-two system, all parties are usually able to put forward a candidate for the general election if they choose to.

So, despite the long shot, I have signed the Code of Fair Campaign Practices and I am running as a write-in candidate for the United States Congress.

I look forward to your vote, and remain,

Yours faithfully,

Richard H. Davis
